A lot of home theater systems available today lack the capability for expansion and restrict sounds to one room of the house. In answering some needs from consumers, Klipsch is introducing a high-end multi-room product series that wirelessly streams high quality sound throughout a home.

The product technology is new and is called KlipschCast™. The key feature lets users create a super multi-room home audio system for playing music and movies without having to cut holes, feed wires, or retrofit the home in any way.

Introducing the new series is the Award winning 2007 CES Innovations CS-700 DVD Entertainment System, a 2.1 virtual surround sound system with a wireless subwoofer. This compact system is designed to deliver a powerful, virtual surround sound performance on the market today. The system’s has a wireless subwoofer and it’s easy set up which also makes it a more user friendly product.

The CS-700 operates as a hub for wirelessly transmitting high quality audio to not only the local subwoofer, but also other KlipschCast products such as the  RoomGroove Music Center. The product is sold separately, and it  requires no wiring other than its power cable and has an iPod dock which is also retractable.

Klipsch is marketing its premium product toward users who want to easily expand their Klipsch music surround sound from room-to-room without being tied down or tripped up.”

Together the CS-700 and one or more RoomGroove units really deliver the full-capability of the system – wirelessly sending CD-quality music, TV or movie sound all over the house.

The roomgroove unit is a two-way speaker design, the music system houses dual 2.5-inch high-output woofers in a ported enclosure, a premium crossover network system to adjust and balance the speaker and finally the dual MicroTractrix™ Horn-loaded tweeters.

The RoomGroove’s hidden dock charges all iPods with 30-pin connectors and it also comes with Apple universal inserts to allow other multiple iPod sizes. The Klipsch logo touch sensor opens and closes the dock that’s located on the front of the unit. The RoomGroove is also compatible with other MP3 players or other playback devices by providing an auxiliary input.
The RoomGroove is available in a black finish  and ready to perform as soon as you plug it in and dock an iPod. Its narrow enclosure depth allows for low-profile wall mounting using the available hardware. An IR remote control lets users select the different KlipschCast sources.

Some KlipschCast Basics

The CS-700 sends a wireless CD-quality audio signal to one or more RoomGroove systems, the transceiver section as it is called. This signal can be the same one playing on the main CS-700 signal or an entirely different source: The CS-700 is able to transmit up to two separate sources at the same time. An example of this is the CS-700 can transmit a DVD movie to the living room, while the RoomGroove transmitts the AM/FM tuner to the kitchen. Now that’s a really cool feature to have.

The RoomGroove can also play music in the same room using its iPod dock, or through its auxiliary input for other MP3 players. The RoomGroove is a transceiver, it can transmit as well as receive, allowing the unit to send this music signal to other RoomGroove units throughout the house. Users could make a multi-room music system with just RoomGroove units. The 2.4GHz wireless technology added to these units offer unlimited add-on opportunities.

CS-700 DVD Entertainment System

This entertainment system uses digital processing circuitry to simulate the effect of a larger, five-speaker system using  only two wired satellite speakers, a wireless subwoofer and an A/V center.

Each wired satellite houses 3-inch shielded woofers and a 0.75-inch magnetically shielded tweeter mated to an exclusive Tractrix® Horn, that produces more output using less energy.
The subwoofer houses an 8-inch down-loaded woofer and 200 watts of amplifier power to generate hard-hitting bass response. Because of its compact size and wireless capability, this subwoofer can easily be stashed away out of site while delivering some thunderous low end Bass.

The A/V center features along with a progressive scan DVD player with Dolby® Virtual Speaker technology, AM/FM tuner and 3 auxiliary inputs, including High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI). It also features an HDMI output for passing digital signals to a TV. A simple universal remote control works all the system functions including the TV and other entertainment devices.

Advertised as plug-and-play, the CS-700 can be operating in as little as 10 minutes. All it takes is hooking the color-coded wiring to the satellites and TV then up to the A/V center and then plugging in the A/V center’s power cable. With the system’s subwoofer, all you have to do is plug its power cord into the wall, as this is wireless and no other connections are needed. A step-by-step set up guide is included.

Availability

Both the CS-700 and RoomGroove will be commercially available in May 2007.
